Green Card Photo

The photo is one of the most important details. Please note that your application is not complete unless it has a photo for every person included in it.

Please take your time to read the following instructions regarding the photos in your application:

The individuals whose photos must be included in the application are:

-

Yourself (the applicant)

-

Your spouse (husband/wife)

-

All your children under 21 years of age.

Compositional rules for the photos:

1.

The photo must be personal (each family member with his own photo). Group photos are not allowed.

2.

The photo may be in color or grayscale (monochrome photos are not allowed).

3.

Face must be in focus and facing the camera.

4.

The head should not be tilted up, down or to the side, and should cover about 50% of the area of the photo (Please make sure that your both ears can be seen).

5.

The background must be neutral, light-colored background.

6.

Sunglasses or other paraphernalia that detracts from the face are not allowed.

7.

Hats or other head coverings are not allowed (unless due to religious beliefs).

8.

Photos of military, airline or other personnel wearing hats are not allowed.

Technical rules for the photos:

Digital photo rules:

1.

The image must be in JPG format.

2.

The image file size must not exceed 62.5 KB.

3.

The image must be of 600 width and 600 height.

4.

Image Color Depth: 24-bit color or 8-bit color or 8-bit grayscale. [Note: Monochrome images (2-bit color depth) will not be accepted.]

Regular photo rules:

1.

The photo size must be 2 inches by 2 inches (50mm x 50mm) square.

2.

The image must be either in color or grayscale.

3.

If you scan a regular photo, use the following scanner specifications:

  • Scan at a resolution of 150 dots per inch (dpi).
  • The image must be in JPG format.
  • The image file size must not exceed 62.5 KB.
  • The image must be at a resolution of 600 by 600 pixels.
  • Image Color Depth: 24-bit color or 8-bit color or 8-bit grayscale. [Note: Monochrome images (2-bit color depth) will not be accepted.]
You can add the photo to the application using one of the following 3 options:

1.

Login to your account using your username and password and upload the photos.

2.

Send a digital photo or a scanned photo to the following e-mail: support@usagc.org

3.

Send a regular photo by regular mail to the following address:
